Cockburn Sound State Environmental Policy
Overview
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is currently reviewing the State Environmental (Cockburn Sound) Policy 2015 (SEP): State Environmental Policy for Cockburn Sound. This review aims to consider whether the SEP’s current level of support for environmental values in Cockburn Sound (Derbal Nara) is sufficient, and to ensure the SEP addresses cumulative impacts in Cockburn Sound (Derbal Nara) over coming decades.
This public consultation closes 8 September 2026.
Why your views matter
As part of this review, we’re inviting community members, stakeholders and organisations to share their perspectives and help shape future environmental outcomes for Cockburn Sound (Derbal Nara).
This survey forms part of a phased consultation approach and complements the online survey conducted in late 2025, community workshops held in June 2026 and stakeholder workshops scheduled for August and September 2026. Once the feedback has been considered, the Department intends to release a draft SEP for public consultation.
