Environmental Protection Act 1986 amendments consultation
Overview
The Government of Western Australia sought public comment on proposed amendments to the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and released a discussion paper and an Exposure draft Bill.
The amendments aim to improve regulatory efficiency and effectiveness and facilitate the implementation of the bilateral agreements under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to deliver better environmental protection and sustainable development outcomes.
The public was invited to share their views on the proposed amendments by making a submission to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
The public consultation period ran from 28 October 2019 to 28 January 2020.

The feedback received through this process helped to inform the amendments to the Environmental Protection Act 1986 that received Royal Assent on 19 November 2020.
